Jesse Donald Knotts was born in Morgantown, West Virginia on July 21, 1924.
He died February 24, 2006, at the age of 81 years, in Los Angeles, California.
He graduated from Morgantown High School in 1942. He graduated from West Virginia University in 1948 where he belonged to the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity.
Don Knotts earned five Emmy Awards for his portrayal of the nervous Deputy Sheriff, Barney Fife, on the TV sitcom, The Andy Griffith Show.
